Hello everyone
I just wanted to take a few minutes to say hello and introduce myself to the forum. I am in the beginning stages of finding out about my insurance and going to the seminar this weekend. I am scared and nervous and unsure about everything but I know I'm not alone and many others have been through this. It's nice to come here and read so many stories and realize I am not alone with some of my feelings in this world. One of my main problems will be first of all being accepted by our insurance company ( I have the 5 year documented weight, a bmi over 40 and am over 21) and then worrying about out of pocket expenses. I have United Health Care Choice Plus Plan and would like to have gastric bypass through Dr. Houston since I am sort of familiar with him..he did my dad's surgery. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and was hoping to hear any comments or suggestions anyone has. Thanks!
Hi & welcome!! I just had my RNY gastric bypass surgery w/Dr. Houston two weeks ago...and I couldn't be happier w/how it all went. He is amazing & you definitely have picked an excellent surgeon.
I don't know a lot about your insurance, but the insurance game has to be played &, if you stay in the game, you will be successful!
Good luck & we are so happy to have you on the Board! xo, Micheala.
Hey'ya Neighbor!!!!
My address on here is Monterey, I live and teach in Rickman, and I go to Wal-Mart in Cookeville!!!!
There is a support group at Cookeville Hosptial that meets the second Wednesday of every month, which means it will be next week. Meeting starts at 5:30 in the educational conference room which is near the nursery. In case you need to attend for insurance approval, I did, but once I got started I was hooked at going, it is so nice to see and hear the stories and be able to share and ask questions.
This board is an excellent tool as well! You will find the folks here are extremely helpful and informative, so feel free to ask as many questions as you need, I did before surgery and still do now!
If you need more info on the support group or anything feel free to send me a message!!
